Journal of Fashion Technology -  Juniper publishers Abstract Through over four centuries women of Western world wore corsets to present their social status, sexuality and beauty. Furthermore, women wore different types of corsets, to mirror the mood of each era, from strict cone-shaped model that represented power and strenght, to the ‘‘hourglass model’’ were modesty, fragility and passivity represented the ideal female figure. Women nowadays continue wearing corsets. One model which is featured in the media is the hourglass corset shape that became the iconic corset shape. The present case study was designed to show corset making of a bespoke corset with the S shape chacarterised by a slim waist and broader bust, and hips. The basic block pattern was drafted on the German Muller pattern making system. Natural Fibre Reinforced Polymer Composites (NFRPCs) reflect excellent and comparable mechanical and dynamic mechanical properties than steel, aluminum and other composite materials. Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA) has been one of the widely used technique among thermal analysis techniques such as Thermo Gravimetric Analysis (TGA), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) and Thermal Mechanical Analysis (TMA). This technique is useful to measure dynamic mechanical properties such as storage modulus ( E ), loss modulus ( E ) ), damping (Tan δ) and glass transition temperature ( T g ) as a function of temperature of NFRPCs and other materials. Recent Progress and Future Challenges of Functional Textiles Fabricated by Atomic Layer Deposition-Juniper Publishers

Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) technique has been regarded as one of the most efficient and promising approaches for the functionalization of complex-shaped surfaces due to its precise and simple thickness control, excellent conformality. Additionally, mild growth conditions such as low temperature and oxygen-free characteristic of ALD made it particularly attracting for the fabrication of functional textiles. Functionalization of natural or synthetic fabrics such as cotton, silk, polyvinyl alcohol, Kevlar and even to chemical-inert Carbon Fiber (CFF) via ALD to endow them with super hydrophobicity, conductivity, antibacterial activity, UV-blocking property, anti-yellowing property, and retardancy are reviewed. Destruction of Azo-Reactive Dyes by Ozonation and the Synergetic Effect of a Radio-Frequency Alternating Electric Field Inductance Device-Juniper Publishers

Discharge of textile wastewater into water-bodies causes serious environmental and health problems. Wastewater color remains due to the non-biodegradable nature of the dyes. However, treatment with ozone can lead to the destruction of the dye molecule, decolorizing thus the textile effluent. In this paper, treatment with ozone in a bubble column reactor resulted in rapid destruction of azo-reactive dyes, utilized primarily for dyeing cellulose fibers. Moreover, ozonation kinetics can be described as a mass-transfer-control process. Combining ozonation with a novel radio-frequency alternating electric field inductance device led to faster destruction of the azo-reactive dyes due to synergetic effects. Expansion of Natural Dye Colour Gamut for Use by the Local Textile and Craft Industry-Juniper Publishers

Natural dyes have been used since long back in various areas such as textiles, craftwork, food colouring and also as medicine. This work was based on expansion of the colour shade that can be obtained from natural dyes for use by the small scale users. The natural dye was extracted from three naturally available plants locally in Zimbabwe using the cold extraction under gravity method. An alcohol was used to extract the dye using a vacuum pump and left to dry. The extracted dye was then used to dye fabric strips using different metals as mordants. From the colour charts generated from the various dyeings it was shown that the shades can be extended for certain plants and in some cases they are not easy to expand. Application of the metal mordants at different concentrations was also found to have an effect on the hue of the dyed fabric strips.
